Our Mission

The Denver Area Al-Anon/Alateen Service Center provides a variety of resources and services to facilitate hope, recovery, and serenity to family members and friends of problem drinkers. We encourage members to experience the miracles of recovery and growth through participation in Al-Anon/Alateen meetings and service opportunities.

Primary purpose of the Denver Area Service Center

  1. Serve as a clearing house for those seeking information regarding Al-Anon/Alateen in the Denver area.

  2. Be self-supporting through the voluntary contributions of its member groups.

  3. Hold regular meetings, open to all member group Service Representatives, where all policies, practices, procedures and problems are discussed in the light of the 12 Traditions.

  4. Maintain an Al-Anon intergroup service office which will be separate and distinct from any individual Al-Anon group, district or agency.

  5. Maintain individual anonymity in keeping with the Al-Anon Traditions.

The DASC shall not maintain clubhouses, Twelve Step houses, or regular group meetings. However, short term Approved CAL book study groups may be allowed if space permits and upon the approval of the Service Committee.

Primary Function of the Denver Area Service Center

  1. Maintains a listing in the local telephone directory, providing a telephone number and website for those seeking information about Al-Anon/Alateen.

  2. Maintains an office address for listing with the World Service Office and Area 5. This way, potential members may be referred without revealing the name, address or telephone number of any Al-Anon/Alateen member.

  3. Receives mail and phone inquiries, referring them to the nearest meeting.

  4. Maintains a list of Al-Anon/Alateen meetings in the Denver Area.

  5. Maintains a stock of Conference Approved Literature, making it available for sale.

  6. Serves as an intergroup information source.

  7. Prints and distributes a monthly newsletter of local activities for the member group.

  8. Coordinates outreach requests, with the appropriate Districts/Area coordinator whenever needed. If Districts/Area cannot meet the request DASC will try to meet the need.

Al‑Anon’s Tradition Seven

In keeping with Al-Anon’s Tradition Seven, Al-Anon is self-supporting, accepting contributions only from Al-Anon members and declining outside contributions.

While contributions cover each group’s rent and other expenses, the Seventh Tradition is essential at every level of Al‑Anon service. It is both a privilege and a responsibility for groups and members to ensure that not only their group, but all service levels remain self‑supporting. This keeps Al‑Anon free of outside influences that might divert us from our primary purpose of supporting families and friends of alcoholics.

In addition to the buttons below, you can mail or hand-deliver donations to the our office at the address below or by calling our office to provide electronic payment information
